CBD Graduated Pipettes: Accurate CBD Oil Measurement

Understanding how to measure your CBD oil using the graduated pipette supplied with your Incr-edibles products.

When you purchase CBD Oil from Incr-edibles, we include a graduated pipette with your order. This also applies to our CBG Oils and blended CBD/CBG Oils. The graduated markings on the pipette allow you to measure a specific volume of CBD oil rather than relying on an approximate number of drops. This makes it easier to measure the same volume consistently from one use to the next.

Understanding Your Graduated Pipette

What is a pipette?

A pipette is the small tube with a rubber or plastic bulb supplied with your CBD oil. It allows you to draw oil from the bottle and measure a specific volume before dispensing it.

Why is it supplied with CBD oil?

We provide a graduated pipette to make measuring your CBD oil easier and more consistent. Rather than simply counting drops, you can use the markings on the pipette to measure a specific volume of oil.

What do the graduated markings represent?

The markings show the volume of liquid inside the pipette, usually measured in millilitres (ml). For example, a marking of 0.5ml means the pipette contains 0.5 millilitres of oil.

Do the markings show how much CBD is in the pipette?

No. The pipette markings measure volume (ml), not the amount of CBD (mg). The amount of CBD contained within that measured volume depends on the strength or concentration of the CBD oil.

Why is measuring volume useful with different CBD strengths?

Different CBD oils can contain different amounts of CBD in the same volume. For example, 0.5ml of a 600mg/30ml CBD oil contains less CBD than 0.5ml of a 1200mg/30ml CBD oil. Measuring the volume therefore gives you a consistent starting point from which the CBD content can be calculated.

Please Note

  • The pipette measures volume.
  • The CBD concentration determines how much CBD is contained within that volume.

A measurement in millilitres does not automatically equal the same number of milligrams of CBD.

The Difference Between Millilitres (ml) and Milligrams (mg)

One of the most important things to understand when measuring CBD oil is the difference between volume and CBD content.

  • Millilitres (ml) measure the volume of liquid.
  • Milligrams (mg) measure the amount of CBD contained within that liquid.
  • Drops are an approximate delivery method and can vary depending on the pipette, viscosity and how the drop is formed.

Therefore:

A 0.5ml measurement does not automatically equal 0.5mg of CBD.

The actual CBD quantity depends upon the concentration of the product.

Understanding CBD Concentration

Example 1: 600mg CBD in a 30ml bottle

To calculate the amount of CBD per millilitre:

600mg ÷ 30ml = 20mg CBD per 1ml

Therefore:

Measured volume CBD content
0.25ml 5mg CBD
0.5ml 10mg CBD
1ml 20mg CBD

Example 2: 1200mg CBD in a 30ml bottle

To calculate the amount of CBD per millilitre:

1200mg ÷ 30ml = 40mg CBD per 1ml

Therefore:

Measured volume CBD content
0.25ml 10mg CBD
0.5ml 20mg CBD
1ml 40mg CBD

Please note: The examples above are mathematical examples demonstrating CBD concentration. They are not recommendations for how much CBD someone should take.

How to Use Your Graduated Pipette

Step 1 — Shake the bottle

Shake the bottle before use. This helps ensure the contents are thoroughly mixed.

Step 2 — Remove the pipette

Unscrew the bottle and carefully remove the pipette.

Step 3 — Squeeze the bulb

Press the pipette bulb before placing it into the oil.

Step 4 — Draw up the oil

Release the bulb while the pipette is submerged in the oil.

Step 5 — Read the measurement

Hold the pipette upright and check the liquid level against the graduation markings.

For the best possible measurement, hold the pipette at eye level when checking the amount of liquid.

Step 6 — Dispense

Dispense the measured quantity according to the product’s instructions.

Step 7 — Replace the pipette

Return the pipette to the bottle and close the bottle securely.

Drops vs Measured Volume

The size of an individual drop of oil can vary depending on a number of factors. This means that counting drops is not necessarily as consistent as measuring a specific volume using the graduated markings on the pipette.

Drop size can be influenced by:

  • Viscosity of the oil
  • Temperature
  • Angle of the pipette
  • How quickly the liquid is dispensed
  • The design of the dropper or pipette

This is why our CBD oils are supplied with graduated pipettes as standard. The markings provide a clear reference for measuring a consistent volume rather than relying solely on counting drops.

Why Our Graduated Pipette Supports Consistency

Using the graduated markings provides a simple way to measure the same volume each time. This can help customers maintain consistency in how much CBD oil they use rather than relying solely on counting drops.

The important distinction is that the pipette measures volume, while the concentration of the product determines the amount of CBD contained within that volume.

CBD Per 1ml — 10ml Bottles

The table below shows the amount of CBD contained in 1ml of our 10ml CBD oils.

Product concentration CBD per 1ml
600mg / 10ml bottle 60mg
1200mg / 10ml bottle 120mg

CBD Per 1ml — 30ml Bottles

The table below shows the amount of CBD contained in 1ml of our 30ml CBD oils.

Product concentration CBD per 1ml
300mg / 30ml bottle 10mg
600mg / 30ml bottle 20mg
1200mg / 30ml bottle 40mg
2400mg / 30ml bottle 80mg

Cleaning and Care of Your Pipette

Keep the pipette clean

  • Avoid touching the pipette tip unnecessarily.
  • Don’t share a pipette between different products.
  • If cleaning is appropriate for your particular pipette, follow the recommended cleaning method.
  • Ensure the pipette is completely dry before returning it to the bottle if your instructions permit cleaning.
  • Replace a damaged pipette.

If you require a replacement pipette, please contact us through our contact page.

Storage

  • Keep the bottle securely closed.
  • Keep the pipette with the bottle.
  • Keep products away from children and pets.
  • Avoid unnecessary exposure to heat and light.

While appropriate storage of our products is highly recommended, our biophotonic violet glass bottles provide additional protection for the cannabinoid products we provide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a graduated pipette measure?

It measures the volume of liquid, usually expressed in millilitres (ml).

Does 1ml equal a specific amount of CBD?

No. The amount of CBD in 1ml depends on the concentration of the product.

Is 1ml always the same number of drops?

No. Drop size can vary depending on several factors, including the viscosity of the oil, temperature, pipette design and how the liquid is dispensed.

How do I know how much CBD is in my measured volume?

Use the product’s stated CBD concentration to calculate the amount of CBD contained within the measured volume.

Can I use the pipette to measure other CBD oils?

Only if it is appropriate and hygienic to do so. Ideally, keep each pipette with its original product.

Can I wash the pipette?

Follow Incr-edibles’ specific care instructions for the pipette supplied with your product.

Why does Incr-edibles provide a graduated pipette?

To make measuring the volume of CBD oil simpler and more consistent.
