Unflavoured CBD Oil-Strength & Concentration
The number on a CBD or CBG bottle tells you how much cannabinoid the product contains in total, but it doesn’t tell you everything about its concentration. Understanding the relationship between bottle size, total CBD or CBG and the amount contained in each drop makes it much easier to compare different strengths.
Using 30ml Bottles
At Incr-edibles, our CBD and CBG oils are available in two different bottle sizes and a range of strengths. Here, we’ll focus on our 30ml bottles and show how the total amount of CBD or CBG in each bottle translates into concentration and the approximate amount contained in each drop. We’ll also compare the cost of obtaining the same amount of CBD or CBG across the different strengths.
As the concentration increases, each drop contains more CBD or CBG, meaning fewer drops are required to obtain the same amount. While the cost per drop may increase with a higher-strength oil, the cost per mg of CBD or CBG can be lower.
You can see this in the table below.
| Unflavoured CBD Oil Product | CBD per drop | Drops containing 12mg CBD | Cost to obtain 12mg CBD |
|---|---|---|---|
| 300mg (30ml Bottle) | 0.5mg | 24 | £0.70 |
| 600mg (30ml Bottle) | 1mg | 12 | £0.52 |
| 1200mg (30ml Bottle) | 2mg | 6 | £0.30 |
| 2400mg (30ml Bottle) | 4mg | 3 | £0.20 |
Using 10ml Bottles
In recent years, higher-strength CBD oils in smaller 10ml bottles have become increasingly common, with some products containing 3000mg, 4000mg or even 5000mg of CBD per bottle. While a high concentration can be useful for customers who prefer to use fewer drops, it can also provide less flexibility when making smaller adjustments.
At Incr-edibles, we therefore offer a range of strengths and two bottle sizes, allowing customers to choose the concentration and format that best suits their preferences.
At Incr-edibles, we also supply 10ml bottles of our CBD, CBG and blended CBD/CBG oils. We offer a range of concentrations rather than simply focusing on the highest possible strength, giving customers greater choice and flexibility. A higher concentration means more CBD or CBG is contained in each drop, so fewer drops are required to obtain the same amount.
The table below shows how the different strengths compare, including the amount of CBD or CBG per drop and the cost of obtaining the same amount. The same principle applies across our CBD, CBG and blended CBD/CBG ranges.
| Unflavoured CBD Oil Product | CBD per drop | Drops containing 12mg CBD | Cost to obtain 12mg CBD |
|---|---|---|---|
| 600mg (10ml Bottle) | 3mg | 4 | £0.48 |
| 1200mg (10ml Bottle) | 6mg | 2 | £0.27 |
10ml Bottles – Benefits and Considerations
In recent years, very high-strength CBD oils in smaller 10ml bottles have become increasingly common, with some products containing as much as 5000mg of CBD per bottle. While a higher concentration can be useful for customers who prefer to use fewer drops, it is important to consider the practical implications of having such a high amount of CBD in each drop.
One consideration is that some people may experience an unpleasant sensation in the throat when using highly concentrated CBD oils. This can be described as a burning, stinging or peppery sensation shortly after the oil is taken. Individual experiences will vary, but the concentration and formulation of an oil are factors worth considering when choosing a product.
Considerations When Choosing Very High-Strength CBD Oils
Another consideration is flexibility. For example, a 10ml bottle containing 5000mg of CBD provides approximately 25mg of CBD per drop, based on approximately 200 drops per bottle. This means that each additional drop represents a relatively large increase in the amount of CBD being used:
- 1 drop = approximately 25mg CBD
- 2 drops = approximately 50mg CBD
- 3 drops = approximately 75mg CBD
For example, if someone were looking to use approximately 15mg of CBD, a product providing 25mg per drop does not allow the amount to be adjusted as precisely using whole drops. One drop would provide approximately 10mg more CBD than the 15mg amount being considered. In this example, the additional 10mg represents 40% of the 25mg contained in the drop.
This illustrates an important point: the highest concentration is not necessarily the most suitable option for everyone. A lower concentration can provide smaller increments between drops, giving customers greater flexibility when choosing how much CBD or CBG they wish to use.
