CBD Bottle Sizes: 10ml vs 30ml – Which Size Is Right for You?

Various bottle sizes are used by different CBD suppliers in the UK for CBD and CBG oils. Here, we will explain what those sizes are and how they affect the concentration of CBD and CBG oils on the market.

We hope to provide you with both the benefits and downsides of these mixed bottle sizes.

In most instances, you will find three commonly used bottle sizes provided by CBD suppliers, they will mainly be;

100ml biophotonic bottle

An often overlooked point by people purchasing CBD or CBG is the concentration of the CBD or CBG that is contained in each bottle size. This can make a huge difference to the strength of the CBD or CBG in each drop of oil.

For example, if each bottle shown above contained 600mg CBD, the 10ml bottle would be 3x stronger than the 30ml bottle and a whopping 10x stronger than the 100ml bottle.

The easy way to calculate the concentration of CBD per drop of oil is to take the amount of CBD in each bottle (which we said was 600mg) and divide it by the number of drops in each bottle.

This is worked out as such;

10ml Bottle 600 (mg CBD) ÷ 200 (Drops) = 3mg CBD per drop
30ml Bottle 600 (mg CBD) ÷ 600 (Drops) = 1mg CBD per drop
100ml Bottle 600 (mg CBD) ÷ 2000 (Drops) = 0.3mg CBD per drop

While the various bottle sizes available offer customers a choice, each has pros and cons that merit serious consideration when buying any cannabinoid product.

We have outlined our thoughts on the different bottle sizes below.

10ml Bottles:

Pros;

One of the benefits of using higher strength CBD or CBG is that you don’t have to swallow as much of the oil-based product. Swallowing oil of any kind is not generally a nice experience so less being better can be seen as a positive.

Another benefit of a smaller vessel is that they are more convenient to carry and certainly more discreet when compared with bottles that are 50ml – 100ml in size, they are good when you are on the move.

Cons;

While these small bottles are often used with higher-strength, higher-concentration CBD or CBG, they can greatly limit the dosing flexibility a larger bottle offers. In high-strength products above 3000mg, this often leads to wastage from overuse and lost money due to unnecessarily high dosage amounts.

An example of this is that, if using a 3000mg CBD product in a 10ml bottle, each drop would contain 15mg of CBD.

This means that if your required dosage is 18mg of CBD, the additional 12mg is unnecessary and wasted, costing extra money every time you use the product.

30ml Bottles:

Pros;

This size of bottle has been an industry standard and for very good reason, with this particular bottle size you have great flexibility in dosing. This flexibility leads to much less of the unnecessary wastage that the high strength, 10ml bottles can cause.

An example of this efficiency would be using a 30ml bottle with a strength of 600mg CBD. This product delivers 1mg of CBD per drop, ensuring 100% accuracy when dosing with no waste. For an 18mg requirement, that would mean using 18 drops, unlike the 10ml option above.

Cons;

We find it difficult to identify any downsides to using 30ml bottles, aside from the fact that they are a little larger to carry around if you prefer to dose while on the move.

100ml Bottles:

Pros;

As we saw earlier in this article, this bottle size generally means a lower concentration of CBD than the 10ml and 30ml options. Where these large bottles with lower CBD content per drop are useful is for people who like to “micro dose”. Micro-dosing specifically refers to taking lower concentrations of cannabinoids like CBD or CBG, but on a much more regular basis over the course of a day. In this respect, this type of product would possibly be more suitable.

Cons;

One of the biggest problems we’ve seen with the larger bottles is that some customers new to CBD assume the size means it is a better bargain than the smaller options. As we have shown in the information listed above, this is not the case.

Another negative associated with oils in these larger bottles is that, because they are diluted and generally at a much lower concentration, more oil is needed, and taking mouthfuls of oil-based CBD is not very pleasant.
